Speech Night

Last night we had Speech Night where ten people from our classrooms shared their speeches with their parents. We had three MC's which were creative and very enthusiastic. Before we started some people were nervous but everyone did an awesome job. At the end we got certificates and got to bow so the audience could show their appreciation.
These are our wonderful speech finalists.

Here are our entertaining MC's.

Extraordinary Athletics Day

Phew! Athletics day is over and done with. Last week we had our Athletics day at school and we had to do lots of activities. They were sprints, long jump, high jump, ball throw and relays. The sun was stremaing down upon everybody who was competing. We had fun and enjoyed our day with our friends. We were so happy when we found out where we had come, some people didn't come anywhere but we all tried our best. Everybody had a good time watching the sprint finals. The relays were cool to watch as well, it was funny to watch the adults do their relay too.

Speeches are Awesome!

The time has come for school speeches! Everyone in our class has been preparing a speech to share with the rest of the class. We have been working as hard as we can. The top ten in our class get to read their speech at Speech Night. Some topics are being the Prime Minister, Bedroom Makeovers, Superheroes, Teachers, Smurfs, School, Pets, Ipods and other cool stuff. We only do this once every two years.
For our speech we have to practise standing properly, knowing it off by heart, eye contact, using a loud voice and keeping our cue cards down low so we don't read from them or mumble.

For homework this week we are practising, practising and doing some more practising of our speech!

Write a comment listing what your speech is about.

The All Blacks Victory!!!

Victory is ours! After 24 years we finally win the Rugby World Cup! We still can't believe that we've won the Webb Ellis Cup, what a great achievement. Our country is so proud and excited! Tony Woodcock scored the first and only try for the All Blacks and Stephen Doanlad kicked the penalty kick which some say won us the game. We can't believe that we were only one point ahead. When we were watching it at home we were all really nervous. Everybodies hearts were pounding just beofre the last minute of the game. The players were all really emotional after the game. Richie McCaw was exhausted just like the rest of his team, they had played so hard. Even two days later we are still celebrating the victory. Go the All Blacks!!!

Popcorn Catastrophe

Fire fire! Off went the fire alarm. We all rushed down to the field by the cricket pitch.
What had happened was that today when some student teachers took some science lessons one group was making popcorn. The frying pan burnt the popcorn and the smoke from the popcorn set off the fire alarm. The whole school thought it was a real fire but it actually wasn't. Our class knew the truth behind the alarm. It was really popcorn!
We couldn't leave the field until all the classes had come. Finally the fire alarms stopped and we went back to our classes. As we walked in the door the smell of burning popcorn filled the air.

Red, Yellow, All Black!

Today we went to the Museum. We went to see an exhibition about rugby. We learnt a lot about rugby at the museum. We found out that a rugby ball used to be made out of a pig's bladder. We also found out that during a rugby game a player can sweat up to 6 litres of water. In one part of the exhibition we actually did a lot of the things rugby players do when they train. It was lots of fun!
